yippee-kay-rubber

S_az049boden has these rubber cowboy boots, aka "cuban wellies" for all-weather-cowboy-boot-scootin. the color and patterns available are pretty loud, but if you must wear cowboy boots in sludge or rain, these would be a much better option than soiling the boots you bought at nieman's.

best of the worst

Tednugentscreamdream pitchfork media dissects the worst record covers of all time today.
i thought this one by ted nugent was particularly interesting. as i was perusing through the 10 page article, i found some real gems, like little feat's "hoy-hoy!" on page 5.
and upon stumbling across the corey feldman album cover, i can't help but think of the splendidness of today's poppy bands and their cd booklet covers. not the same amount of square inches, but enough to spark the beginnings of some tween memories.
or maybe not.

a fun waste of time

Picture_3i got an invitation to the movie game/scene maker. basically, you and your friends alternate making scenes in a storyboard, by selecting a background, characters, props, bubbles where you add the text.

right now, me and two other art directors are working on "wtf_omg_LOL". we're doing this instead of working. i'll prob have to come in on saturday.

this is just stupid fun.

just shoot me

Templewebon my first annual report, i got to work with chris and suzanne salvo - a husband and wife team that goes all over the world to shoot for their clients, all year round. i still get emails saying, "going to india, let us know if you need us to shoot anything there for ya!"
some beautiful stuff on their website - pretty for oil and gas and all the corporate stuff - but the photography in the world category rivals that of national geographic. commentary about their travels can be found here.

design donkey

hard-working designer or art director - doesn't see the sun from november to april, except for some weekends and holidays. works from start of day, straight through, past the 5:30 mark, and still comes to work the next day.
design donkey works this hard bc of the little shimmer of light that shines from award shows and community recognition. it's like a mule every once in a while getting an apple in its trough.
i could go further with the desidiom-alogy: who's the farmer, who's the horse, who's the cat who gets to sit in the farmer's house to drink milk... but i have lots of work to do.

kinky

Picture_2_1 i've always liked design is kinky. each month, three designers write about chosen topics. there's also news, an area profiling up-and-coming designers, links to other cool sites, job listings, event postings, etc. it's definitely a nominee for the homepage, like newstoday, so you can be instantly distracted from the massive amount of work you have to do, once you turn on your browser.

it atleast deserves a roll in the bookmarks bar.
